ST 062: Introduction to UTK on iTunes U (Online Notes)

UTK on iTunes U Course Area

Tabs Your iTunes U course area will be created with 6 default "tabs" for organizing and accessing podcasts.

  • Public tab: Accessible to anyone with an Internet connection and iTunes installed on their machine. This tab is not password protected. Only the instructor can upload podcasts here, but anyone can listen and/or download them. This is the ONLY tab that will be visible for visitors.

  • All of UT tab: Accessible to anyone with a valid UT netId and password. Only the instructor can upload podcasts here, but anyone who can log in can listen and/or download them. You do not have to be enrolled in the course to have access to these podcasts.

  • Course Content tab: Accessible to only students "enrolled" in your course. Only the instructor can upload podcasts here and only students enrolled in the course has access to them.

  • Drop Box tab: Students enrolled in the course can upload their podcasts for their instructor to critique. Only the instructor will be able to view them.

  • Shared tab: Students enrolled in the course can upload their podcasts. These can be listened to and downloaded by anyone enrolled in the class.

    • Archive tab: The instructor may copy and store older podcasts here. These podcasts can easily be moved into any of the other tabs when necessary. Only the instructor has access to these podcasts.

The UTK on iTunes U launch page can be found at http://itunesu.utk.edu. To enter the password protected site, click the Access-restricted UTK on iTunes U link. The iTunes application will open up on your computer. If you do not have iTunes installed on your machine, get iTunes here.
