CMS 220: Online@UT's Adaptive Release

Steps 5 + 6

Step 5

Here is where the Adaptive Release process can get a bit complicated. Remember that David’s goal here is to make the quiz available only to students who have reviewed all of the required materials. NOTE: If David wanted to tie quiz access to only one other item, then after clicking on Manage he would choose the Adaptive Release option. We will return to the basic Adaptive Release options later in the scenario. Because David needs to tie the quiz to all of the required materials, he instead clicks on Adaptive Release: Advanced and creates a new Rule.

Step 6

When creating a new rule, the first step is to name the rule. In order to avoid confusion with others he might create later, David gives it a fairly specific name: “Release Fundamentals Quiz.” Once he’s done so, he is allowed to define the rule by ascribing certain criteria to it.

Any one rule can include a whole host of criteria and can be as simple or as complex as you wish it to be. A rule’s parameters can be determined by Date, by Membership, by Grade, or by Review Status. David’s rule is built from Review Status, so he clicks that button.
