Dr. Michael Sims is a familiar name around ITC. And why shouldn’t it be, he has had a sincere interest in applying technologies to his discipline and to his teaching since ITC opened it’s doors in 1996. He is the type of person who will phone or email from time to time inquiring about emerging technologies or even pondering solutions we're not exactly sure exist yet. He’s a catalyst. As a Professor & Director in Veterinary Medical Communications, he has also been a strong advocate for his colleagues across the College of Veterinary Medicine. The first time we interviewed Dr. Sims in 1998, the college was implementing a departmental Intranet. This was at a time when many were at the early stages of discussing the merits of portals, prior to Blackboard or My UT, allowing for a one-stop, personalized entrance into the World Wide Web.
