Thinking Like A Geographer: Technology and Geography 101Dr. Lydia PulsipherProfessorDepartment of Geography |
Introduction
Through a Faculty First 2004 grant, Dr. Lydia Pulsipher worked with the Innovative Technology Center (ITC) to leverage all the potential of a smart classroom to bring the regions of the world alive for her students, all 250 of them. Dr. Pulsipher chose to teach Geography 101 as a combined course, with a total of 250 students. One of her goals was to personalize the course as much as possible, to reduce the sense of isolation freshmen sometimes feel within a large class. A second goal was to explore the ability of technology in a smart classroom to make her favorite subject vividly real for her students.
