Dr. Augé sees value in the process, and several of his students have gone on to use their web development skills professionally after graduation. Take a look at a few of the products developed by his PLSC 448 students.

Building the DAWG

dawgIn addition to augmenting traditional classroom teaching with educational technology tools and experiences, Dr. Arnold Saxton and Dr. Augé have been building the DAWG (Stats Design and Analysis Web Guide). In 2004, Augé and Saxton received a Teaching with Technology grant from the Innovative Technology Center (ITC). They proposed to develop a set of instructional modules designed to teach students the basics of SAS and experimental design.
SAS is the predominant statistical software worldwide, used by 90% of Fortune 500 companies. The ability to properly design experiments and analyze them statistically is critical for students in agriculture and biology. The development of the SAS statistical module set is intended for a wide university audience, however its primary use is in two statistics courses: Statistics for Biological Research and Design and Analysis of Biological Research. The DAWG is web-based resource that coaches researchers through selecting the proper design and analyzing it correctly using SAS. You may view the DAWG at DAWG Website.
