Clicker Support and Assistance Available
Faculty all over campus are experiencing student engagement in the classroom with personal response devices called “clickers.” Clickers are remote-control devices that allow students to send their responses to multiple-choice and true-false questions, via infrared or radio frequency (rf) technology, to a receiver connected to the instructor’s computer. Results are displayed graphically, giving both students and faculty a quick idea of which concepts might need further review or preparation.
Ready to get started? Contact Dr. Christina Goode at 974-6470 to request an instructor’s kit. Faculty must also contact the UT Bookstore to order clickers for their classes. Once faculty receive an instructor’s kit and create a course site with eInstruction, the ITC will be available to assist with on-campus training, question structuring, and developing interactive clicker strategies. Students purchase one clicker, which they must register within each of their classes that will be using the system. Students may visit the START desk in the Commons for basic clicker troubleshooting.
For more information or requests for training, contact Dr. Christina Goode at 974-6470, cgoode@utk.edu or Dr. Michael Burke at 974-8893, mburke@utk.edu.
