Faculty Guide to Social Networking
We’ve
all heard about MySpace, Facebook
and YouTube…but what exactly are they? This newsletter
will introduce a variety of social networking tools – software
that exists to
bring people together around a topic or interest while online.
Social networking
provides an opportunity for students to practice social skills
and collaborate
with others who may be part of the same class or who may live
half-way
across the world. Learners seem to be constantly attached to
the latest
digital gadget, so it makes sense for educators to contemplate
this
“connection infection” and explore its ability to
engage and focus learners.
We are here to help you! If you’d like
more information about social
networking or other technologies, call 974-9670 or e-mail us
at itc@utk.edu.
You can also send us a form describing
your teaching or research
needs.
